Art shapes culture by expressing values and contemporary perspectives, by challenging conventional ways of thinking and by becoming artifacts that carry their meaning across time and place.

Artistic values and the public's interest in and the value placed on artistic expression change over time, and differ among different societies and cultures.

In any branch of the arts is developed through dedicated practice over time.

When I came to Forest Ridge, I felt immediately welcomed in the art rooms. Over the last three years, I have enjoyed the times I have spent gaining confidence in my ability to create art. I believe that art is a space that allows for people to connect to each other while being creative. I hope to continue growing as an artist and continuing to deepen my understanding of arts impact on culture in college and my life.
